Western bursary recipient driven in pursuit of physician career
Oct. 1, 2020
A track and field star, Olivia Hill’s career has taken off running after being awarded a student bursary through our Western Financial Group branch in Campbell River.
Hill received a $750 Western Inspirational Award from our Western Financial Group Communities Foundation in 2017 upon finishing high school. Now in her senior year at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, she will graduate with a biology degree in 2021.
“I wanted to thank you and your organization, once again, for the bursary,” she said. “The award meant a lot to me and has helped me get to where I am today.”
For her exemplary dedication to university track and field/cross country, Hill received the Jenny Matsuda Award (top female scholar-athlete award) for the 2019/2020 year.
This is presented to one male and one female, individuals with the highest cumulative GPA who show the utmost character. Hill’s GPA has been 3.95 in her first three years.
Hill scored awesome results on her medical college admission test (MCAT) and is applying for medical school at the University of British Columbia for the 2021 year.
Congratulations Olivia! We’re excited for your dream of being a physician to come true.
