Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen our communities and families challenged like never before. Western Financial Group’s charitable arm, the Western Communities Foundation, recognizes this and has supported the 130 communities we live in since 2001.
We have walked with you through hard times before. Our commitment to help our communities has always been and will always be steadfast.
Many families are experiencing food shortages. In many cases, we’ve seen how it is affecting our local communities. With school closures, our youth, whose families rely on food programs, no longer have access. Thirty-four per cent of the Canadian population that relies on food banks are children.
Plus, the food bank system is already challenged by devastating impacts.
We are proud to launch the Community Food & Nutrition Emergency Fund Program that provides $75,000 to help registered organizations supply 225,000 meals for our communities.
As Western, we have been guided by our mission to serve for 19 years. We are humbled to provide resources to help organizations help residents in need via critical programming.
Serving others aligns with our guiding principles of Truthfulness, Fairness, Value and Loyalty.
How the program works:
Our branch teams remain community champions and it is through theCommunity Food & Nutrition Emergency FundProgramthat we can continue caring for our communities in a way we are used to.
Details include:
From now until Dec. 31, 2020, Western Financial Group will award each community with $250 and the Foundation will match that, for a minimum of $500 per community where we operate.
In communities where we have multiple locations, our branch managers will work together to choose one food bank or food-related registered organization and pool their resources.
Together, as Canadians, we will come through COVID-19 stronger as a nation, and for our communities, more connected as neighbours. We will get through this.
