Western Communities Foundation Donates to The Okotoks Public Library
Oct. 18, 2021
As one of the chosen communities for the 20th Anniversary Givebacks, the Okotoks team knew they wanted their gift to go to the Okotoks Public Library. The Okotoks Public Library has been an integral part of the Okotoks community since 1977. As the town grew at such a rapid pace, it became clear that the library needed to grow with it, as such the “Come Grow with Us Campaign” began.
“The Okotoks Public Library is excited to welcome the community back to our fantastic new space as part of the Okotoks Arts & Learning Campus! The generous donation from Western Financial Group helps support the library in purchasing additional lounge and study furniture for the public for their learning and social needs. Thank you for helping to make a difference for us in our continued effort to be the heart of the community and key to the world.” Sarah Gillie, Okotoks Public Library Manager
The brand-new Okotoks Arts and Learning Campus recently opened to the public, and members of our Okotoks Western Financial Group team were lucky enough to receive a tour of the new campus.
“Our team chose the Okotoks Public Library because they are such an important part of the town, and so many of their plans for their lovely new location were set aside or delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the Library’s resources, budget, and fundraising abilities. This donation means a lot to me because I truly believe that public libraries are the heart of a community and vital for both education and entertainment, the only gathering place where you aren’t expected to pay to spend time there.” Whitney Pohl, Insurance Advisor, Western Financial Group.
“The new facility is beautiful, spacious and an inviting place for people of all ages. The children’s area is beautiful, with endless resources for children of all ages, and so many spots for them to get comfy and read a book.” Cali Peace, Communities Foundation Coordinator.
