Western Coast grant funding supports Colwood water park
Oct. 7, 2020
Our Western Coast Insurance Services (WCIS) team in Westshore, British Columbia, finds pride in strengthening the places where we gather as a community and helped make a real splash for youth in the City of Colwood.
A division of Western Financial Group, our WCIS branch presented $10,000 in infrastructure grants via our charity arm, the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation, to the Colwood Creek water park.
We were thrilled to have been able to identify and present back-to-back $5,000 grants to the now completed project in 2017 and 2018. A cool site, this features a splash pad, spray toys and spouts.
In 2018, the funding was directed toward a wooden pergola near the play area, perfect for family activities during a hot summer day or a covered performance area/community event space.
“The city is grateful to Andrea Ferrie and her colleagues at (Western Coast) Westshore who understand these park improvements will have incredible benefits,” the city’s website previously stated.
It’s an honour to, as Western Coast Insurance Services, apply for grant funding to support infrastructure projects or construction/renovation of publicly owned sites in our communities.
“It is wonderful to partner with the city on this project,” Ferrie said. “Members of our communities see that we are present and looking for things to support. It’s a wonderful feeling to give back.”
As your neighbours, we call these communities home as well and want them to be the best they can be.
The Foundation has supported communities served by Western Financial Group and its divisions (ie Western Coast Insurance Services) since 2001. In addition to strengthening community connection points by way of infrastructure grants, we develop future leaders via student bursaries and assist the places we call home during times of crisis.
