The Communities Foundation Donates to Leduc Food Bank
Nov. 2, 2021
The Leduc Food Bank is a community-driven and supported organization that relies on community donation and volunteer support in order to provide short-term assistance to an approximate population of 85,000 people, they feed over 150 families a month. As we continue our 20th Anniversary celebrations, we are ae excited that the Leduc Food Bank was selected as one of our recipients.
“I always knew the food bank played a huge role in supporting the hurting members of our communities and that is why we chose it. Now, I am truly thankful we did choose it as the experience opened our eyes to the MANY outreaches this particular food bank has…it isn’t just about handing over a box of food to a few local families, it goes beyond food. Support of other worthwhile agencies, teaching food prep so their clients know what to do with the food once they get it home, daily pick up of the airport “oversize and not-allowed” items (I’m sure I have personally contributed to that outreach a few times!), local Walmart and Costco pickup for all broken items so they can be repurposed and not end up in a landfill…the list goes on and on. I am proud and happy to be a member of Western Financial and Western Financial Communities Foundation.” Joan Billings, Leduc Branch Manager
Laurette LaPlante, Director, of the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation, said that: “They say food is life. Food banks are always struggling for resources but at this time, it seems they are in even greater need than before the pandemic. As the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation celebrates its 20th Anniversary, being able to contribute to those communities in a time of need is part of who we are. Being there to support the Leduc Food Bank is an extension of our community and brings us all such great joy.”
