Vermilion is a vibrant community with many volunteer groups, a conference centre, numerous recreational facilities, recently completed streetscapes beautification project, Lakeland College featuring one of Canada’s most distinguished fire schools, and a provincial park adjacent to our town boundaries. Beckie Scott – Olympic cross-country skier, Jeff Woywitka – professional hockey player, Jolan Wong – paralympic volleyball player have all come from this little community.
Vermilion residents take great pride in our heritage. We participate in numerous economic and community projects including Communities in Bloom. The Town’s best assets are our residents’ friendliness and hospitality.
The Vermilion branch has raised funds for the Elementary School’s Hot Lunch Program, Habitat for Humanity, Automated Access Doors and a Defibrillator for the Vermilion Stadium, and a Roof Replacement for the Vermilion Museum. We have also awarded numerous high school graduates with Exceptional Achievement Citation Bursaries.
